WE'RE SO DONE! Toni 'the Acolyte' Taskinen finally finished his guitars after days of tragic labour... Hail? That means, everything is recorded - including THE CREEPIEST MUSIC BOX TOY STAR EVER (see entry no. 1 - will you spot it on the record? Yes, you must BUY it!) There's still at least one day of editing to be done next week, and the mixing will be committed on the week after. We'll follow up with an update on our site when everything's done, perhaps even with some listenables? But right now, we'll concentrate on gathering our nuts and bolts from the floor, it's been a nerve-wrecking trip so far! -E And another long period without an update! We haven't been able to get to the studio due to numerous circumstances - blame norway! Anyway, when we DID, we actually got things done. Or Armi did, she finished her vocals today after nailing two songs during her last visit. What's left to do? Some guitars and edits, that's all that has to be done before the mixing next month, in addition to some mad swedish KILLER pianos. Also, today was established how to name your child and that a kangaroo is a great pet. Would be. If you were in Australia. No camera, but that probably doesn't need further mentioning. It is better the way it is. So far so bad, but over from far! (???) -E First of all, sorry to leave you waiting for news - it's been a busy week! The week started off with monday, as it usually does. The searing heat of 29 degrees celsius and a hung-over recording engineer made it easy for us to assemble a game plan for the day: Armi recorded the vocals for two songs and off we went to ingest a few beers outside. When tuesday came, it was time for Kim "Madman" Suikkanen to wreak some infrasonic havoc! Since the pick-ups on his own bass exploded right before the sessions started, he had to go with a borrowed one for which I had brought a set of strings - you could have used it as a hunting bow! Still, we got a killer bass sound and he nailed almost five songs that day, after which Acolyte Toni recorded some more guitars. The bass recordings continued all the way to thursday, with some guitarring and singing in between. The camera is still nowhere to be seen, so it seems like all you're going to see at some point is Raikku drumming. Not that you're missing much, in an intellectual sense anyway. The work continues on saturday and still stretches over to next week, more inane banter shall be shared here at that point. -E CROM! A lot of shit has been immortalized over the last three days: I completed my rhythm guitar parts today, Armi finished off three more songs on tuesday and Toni managed to record two more songs and still held his temper! Propably because of the inspiring, adult-oriented imagery of a subject of the male persuasion provided by Jarno... what?? Tomorrow, I'll try and finish off the rest of my guitars, leaving only most of Toni's guitars, vocals on five songs, all bass parts and all piano sections to be recorded - that's next to NOTHING! We'll be forced to sit on our hands and do nothing for the weekend, since the studio will be occupied by other maggots - at least the weather's going to be great. (Stormy, rainy and dark, you know the drill!) Still waiting for the videos and camera. *points finger* Finally, it is worth to mention that I seem to have come up with a doomed chord progression, wreaking havoc to the principles of music theory and slaughtering all doctrines of harmony - fortunately though, the great music guru of the studio granted me salvation by telling me that it can be saved with the power of the bass - wtf?! -E On friday, I continued my guitarring spree and managed to record two and a half more tracks on a shorter-than-usual day. Yesterday was our day off, which felt more a pain than leisure. Today Armi stepped up to the microphone and began her task more than convincingly with two finished songs in one hour. PRAISE THY GODDESS! Also Toni began his drudgery, and ended up with one finished song on his part - well done, acolyte. Tomorrow, I'll try to finish my rhythm parts. Right now, we're waiting for the camera to immortalize our golden moments. Some drum stuff should be ready for viewing quite soon... So stay tuned! -E After five days of tedious drum stuff, it was time to move on to the good part - guitars! As I already guessed, yesterday's drum editing didn't spawn a lot of interesting material to report, and the drudgery will be carried on to tomorrow. Today however, a wholly different matter! I nailed my guitar parts on three songs, including doubles! Hooray for me! PRAISE THY LORD, MAGGOT! More heroic feats are to be expected when the morrow neighs. -E "BLÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄST" -J. Hänninen That quote pretty much sums up the happenings of the last two days. All drum tracks have been recorded now, leaving only the final edits to be completed tomorrow. (Should make for a VERY interesting diary entry) Additionally, a lot of exciting, hilarious and awe-inspiring stuff has happened in those holy halls of Klaukkala, I just can't figure out what they are. Bickering and sleeping come to mind. Eating, perhaps. -E It was a rainy and stormy winternight, and Elias and Raikku headed out to the ominous northern woods of Klaukkala. In other words, we hit Jassi Hänninen's D-Studio, got the drum set up and started to record some drum tracks! The evening was spent under the watchful eyes of Armi and recording engineer Tonmi Lillman, and after a hard day's work we had two complete drum tracks, two quarter tracks, a heap of broken drumsticks and a pissed "Choir Exporter", so we decided to call it a day and continue on the next day. I picked up Raikku early in the morning (stormy and rainy again, very ominous) and we went blasting again. Additionally to three complete drum tracks, we ended up with a crapload of video material waiting to be edited and found THE CREEPIEST MUSIC BOX TOY STAR EVER. That's it for today, check back tomorrow - maybe i'll care to write some more fascinating stories. Expect also photographic material, guaranteed to make your eyes bleed! -E |
